Here’s the thing about hitting the ground running after returning from a vacation: there’s not a lot of time to blog about said vacation. I will, though, eventually, because my time away was something I don’t want to forget any time soon. Besides spending time with Bethany, I got to hang out with a bunch of other (super-awesome) internet friends, read a not-yet-out book by one of my favourite authors, hang out with said author, and meet three actors I love a lot.
Finally getting to meet an internet friend is something that is hard to explain to people who don’t have internet friends and therefore don’t understand that you can be friends with someone you’ve never met in the flesh. Bethany and I have been friends for six or so years, but only just had a chance to actually spend time together in real life a few weeks ago.
We spent twelve days together, four days of them driving, and five (I think?) nights in small hotel rooms, and it could have been really awkward, had our meeting not gone well. But it was more like getting to see an old friend, rather than someone I hadn’t actually shared breathing space with before.
And she wasn’t (isn’t) a serial killer.
The kids and I are off to spend the week with my friend Lisa, and I don’t think we’ll have an internet connection out there. After spending so much time away from the kids, I’m looking forward to spending this week with them and Lisa and the others who will be out there.
And after spending 12 days single-parenting, I don’t think Noah will mind five days of quiet.
