Except it’s not.
I have a love/hate relationship with going through my photo archives. I read this post by my friend Suzy about not wanting to be a “real” photographer and it made me think of when I did her engagement photos and how much fun it was and then how I quit being a “real” photographer a couple months later when some bridezilla made me hate my life.
Anyway, so I was searching through my photos trying to find the photos from Suzy and Barclay’s engagement and I could not find them, which means that they’re in a giant stack of discs that I do not have the desire to go through because dealing with a sick Liliana has basically drained my will to live. I mean, I want to be the one to care for my kids when they’re sick, but my goodness. If caring for a sick Liliana were a paid position, the salary would be ONE MILLION DOLLARS. An hour.
But, I needed a distraction (and also I was procrastinating putting a load of laundry in, partly because my legs were aching from doing three days’ worth of dishes and partly because I’m just lazy), so I went through photos month by month not really paying attention to what month I was on till I came across certain photos which caused my heart to start beating wildly and I couldn’t breathe.
I’m not the smartest. I’ll avoid those folders from now on.
But, aside from those fun times, I did find quite a few of my favourite photos and here I shall share some of them with you.
The first photo I always think of when I think of my favourite photos is this one:
May 2007
Liliana was only a few days old, and Kaylie was rocking her and singing to her. I’m not sure why I haven’t printed this one yet, but it’s probably because I suck at printing photos. I should really change that.
The second is this one:
Wascana Lake, Regina, SK, January 2010
I love the combination of hoar frost and blue sky. And I miss Wascana Lake something fierce. I know some people find it stinky and fake, but I find it beautiful and perfect for running around.
So, there’s those two, but then I started going through more and more folders, choosing my favourites, but then it became all about fairness, and I just chose one of Liliana and now I need to choose one of Kaylie and THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE JUST ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY because I’m a little bit crazy. So I tried not to be so fair, and here are a few more that I like.

Is it weird to anyone else that many of these photos are taken in the winter? Maybe I like the season more than I thought I did.
